What it is
"Learn and earn" programs are marketing budgets dressed up as education: a crypto project funds a reward pool, an exchange wraps its token in a 5-minute lesson and a quiz, and you get a few dollars of that token for passing. The courses are genuinely short and the money is real, but each one pays once and the pools are capped, so it is a one-off bounty rather than an income stream. The program most people name first, Coinbase Learning Rewards, has been closed since May 2025.
How it works
- Check what is actually live in your countryCampaigns rotate every few weeks and are heavily region-locked — Binance's Learn & Earn has been restricted in the US, and Binance's 2026 learning campaign ran in South Asia only. Verify on the exchange's own announcements page, not a roundup blog.
- Open the account and pass KYCEvery program that pays real tokens requires identity verification. KuCoin states plainly that only verified users can participate and claim rewards, and Bybit requires Identity Verification Level 1.
- Watch the lesson and pass the quiz first tryModules take a few minutes. Pass marks matter: eToro requires 70% or higher and counts only your first attempt, and CoinMarketCap has required a 100% score to qualify.
- Wait out the campaign, then wait for paymentRewards are not instant. KuCoin distributes within 15 working days after the campaign ends; Binance's Academania campaign pays winners within 60 working days of the draw.
- Claim before the pool emptiesMost pools are first-come-first-served while token supplies last. Finishing the course does not guarantee payment if the faucet is already dry, and exchanges do not compensate missed allocations.
- Build the referral side, which is where the money isDoing the courses yourself tops out around $100 lifetime. Referring other people to the same exchanges pays up to 50% of their trading fees, on Binance as a sustained rate and on Bybit for the life of the account.
What you need
- Government photo ID for KYC — no verification, no payment
- A supported country; the US and dozens of other jurisdictions are fully or partly excluded from several programs
- An account on each exchange you want rewards from (Binance, Bybit, KuCoin, CoinMarketCap, etc.)
- 15–30 minutes per course, and the discipline to pass the quiz on the first attempt
- A funded account for some programs — eToro's Learn & Earn pays only users with a funded account
- A self-custody wallet if you want the on-chain quest rewards (Coinbase Wallet / Base App)
- Tolerance for being paid in a small-cap token whose value can drop before you can sell it
- Enough balance to cover network withdrawal fees, which can exceed a small reward
The catch
This is a one-time bounty, not income: once you have done every live course you are finished, and the realistic lifetime total is around $60–$130 spread across half a dozen exchanges. The programs are also quietly shrinking — the flagship one, Coinbase Learning Rewards, closed in May 2025, and Binance's newest 2026 learning campaign is a lottery that pays 10 USDT to ten people a month rather than paying everyone who passes. On top of that, you hand over government ID, you may be geo-blocked entirely (the US is excluded from several), payment arrives weeks after the campaign ends, you are paid in a small-cap token that can fall before you can sell, and withdrawal network fees can eat a $2 reward outright.
